The secret is not calm, it is flexibility

THE SECRET IS NOT THE CALM, IT'S THE FLEXIBILITY

We live in turbulence times. VUCA, BANI... or whatever you'd rather call it.

The truth is, the ground is no longer firm.
And the only constant thing is change... and confusion.

At Harvard I learned something that marked me: in contexts like this, the most valuable thing is not to predict the future... is to be flexible with what you thought you knew.

Because the companies that survive are not the ones that have a perfect plan, but the ones that know how to change course without losing purpose.

The ones who hear weak market signals.
Those that adapt their way of creating and capturing value.
Those who do not seek absolute certainty, but possible scenarios to move with agility.

And one more thing: right now, the best thing you can do as a leader is to have your team on board.
Listen to him. Involve him. Create together.

Years ago there was an extreme competition called Eco-Challenge: a multi-day adventure race that mixed navigation, survival, mountain, open water... where teams from all over the world faced wild conditions.

And you know what? He never won a team made up of military. Not one.

Contrary to any prognosis, the most rigid structures were also the most fragile.

They won mixed, flexible teams, where there was real communication, capacity to adapt to the ground and a strong human connection.

So next time you feel like everything changed... don't look to control the storm.
Don't try to hold on to what it's not anymore. You better adjust your candles. And make sure your team is on board paddling with you.
